Waco Texas Has Plenty To Offer

Waco is named after the Waco Indians who where the first people to live in the area. The Waco people lived in huts that stood 25 feet tall and were shaped like beehives. Their village was near the Brazo River where they grew melons, beans, and corn. Today Waco Texas is a vibrant community that has plenty to offer whether you are planning to move here, start a business, or come for a visit.

Waco has a population around 220,000 and it is located in McLennan County. It takes great pride in the quality of life it offers its residents and the sense of community spirit oh and of course the beautiful area in which it resides.

Waco also takes pride in its public transit system which has a reputation for being reliable and safe. Regular fixed service scheduled buses are available as well as the van service for those with disabilities.

Flying to Waco is a breeze with daily flights by American Eagle from Waco to Dallas Fort Worth Airport and SkyWest Airlines from Waco to Houston Bush International. You also have easy access to Greyhound Trailways Bus Lines and the Central Texas Trailways.

The Cottonwood Creek Golf Course is a par 72 course that winds along the rolling plains. There’s also a nine hole junior course that was designed by Hurdzan Fry. It’s a great place for the kids to learn the sport and during the summer they can participate in the golf instructional program. You’ll also find a pro shop and a full service restaurant onsite.

If you’d like to get some outdoor recreation then Lake Waco is a great place to visit. Here you can bike, hike, or walk the scenic trails that are open from sunrise to sunset. There’s some beautiful scenery along here!

Be sure to also visit Cameron Park where you’ll find some of the best scenery around. Contrasting bluffs and gullies with the Brazos and Bosque Rivers. There’s a nice mix of terrain her from river bottomlands to dense foliage. You can spend a day, a week, or a lifetime exploring here!
