Las Vegas, Built Out Of Thin Air

By: Pablo Edronkin

Like it or not, from gambling and betting, and the market that exists for these activities, with casinos and game parlours, we can learn a lot, but especially and specifically, one thing: you can make a lot of money by taking the risks of an adventurer. And while it is indeed true that in the past gambling was related to mafia and criminal activities in general, today, gambling companies and casinos are true corporations that had their IPOs at one time or another and act honestly and seriously in the stock markets around the world. A very different picture from what was common half a century ago, but true.

The essential point is that despite difficulties and odds against you, if you venture you can win; these companies prove this fact, and what they are today is a testament to persistence. You dare to gamble, then you win; you don't, then you stay where you are. It doesn't get simpler than that.

Las Vegas is an example of a city that was built practically frond the ground up thanks to gambling and entertainment in various forms. Indeed, during its development there has been some activity of mafia families, but not now, and many of those criticising this market are not certifiably honest, after all. They just talk out of envy.

So, there are two alternatives left: either you play and use your chances of winning, or you don't. If you don't, then no cities or fortunes will be built, including your own. While gambling and betting you should be aware that you are in fact, running into perilous terrain, but that's the spirit of adventure, after all.

And then, there is another slight detail to consider: Before the advent of casinos in Las Vegas, the town was ghostly, dusty and poor. Now it is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world. It prduced jobs for millions of people and produces huge amounts of money in the way of taxes for the government.
