Golf Swing Technique - How To Improve Your Swing

By Dean Caporella

Getting your golf swing technique right may have a lot to do with your fitness levels. Golf has never been regarded as a game where fitness plays a major role yet in recent times, we are seeing more emphasis being placed on this aspect of the game.

I remember watching golf as a youngster and thinking this is my type of game. Why?

Well, we are most impressionable at a young age and apart from carrying a few extra ponds, my heroes also had a penchant for "puffing on a smoke" which back in 70's was still considered pretty cool.

Golf Swing Technique - Fit For Golf

Today, young players coming through the ranks are taught to be fit; not fit in the mould of a track athlete but fit for the game of golf. Does this sound confusing?

In other words, you want to make sure all the working parts in your body attributed to executing the swing had better be in good physical shape. More often than not, too much emphasis is placed on the golf swing technique dealing with the stance, the back swing, the follow through etc.

While this is vitally important, unless the muscles and tendons used in playing the swing are properly tuned then you will have problems.

Golf Swing Technique - Body Mind Co-operation

Golf is said to be a game of the mind; visualize the shot your about tp play and then execute it. That's very true but think about this, your mind alone cannot play the shot for you and it requires co-operation from a physical sense...your body.

The physical exertion on the body from a full blown golf swing can be enormous. Your body is asked to contort in an unnatural fashion and this is why it's so important to keep the muscles in your neck, your hips your legs and even your feet finely tuned and ready to bend when asked to.

By conditioning those muscles used to play the golf swing and more importantly, strengthening them, you'll find the more tuned they become the more natural the swing feels.
